A large part of our teaser played on the visceral nature of fire, with the map burning in reverse. This motivates our journey across the Continent, revealing important locations and sparking scenes of the show into life. A central theme of The Witcher’s third season centres around war, and we felt that the use of fire symbolised battles igniting and spreading across the Continent - but by burning the map in reverse, the fire could be used to reveal the locations and scenes, rather than take them away. At the end of the trailer, we then used the fire to seamlessly blend the final shots into the Witcher medallion and title reveal. In addition to fire, we utilised a mixture of atmospheric and magical effects like smoke, shadows and portals to create a dynamic visual experience. Shadows added depth and texture to shots, whilst the portals and swirls of smoke provided seamless transitions between scenes. We felt the use of the portals were a particularly important addition to the use of fire, as we wanted the teaser to connect to the magical themes of the show.

Our teaser trailer for The Witcher Season 3 leaves the viewer hungry for more. It promises a season filled with action, emotion, and a world burning from the effects of war. Netflix were thrilled with what we produced, and we can’t wait to work with them again on several upcoming projects.
