TURN IT UP!

Here at Fluid, we’ve got a pretty rich history of partnering with some of the most renowned and respected brands in the music industry, having run campaigns with the likes of MTV, Sony Music and Universal Music Group. Likewise, we’ve done awesome work with some of the biggest names in the peripherals space, including Thrustmaster and the PSVR headset. So, naturally, we were delighted to combine both areas of our expertise with the creation of a stunning visual trailer for the launch of the DJControl Impulse T7 - the latest premium DJ controller from Hercules.

Featuring the true tactile feedback of vinyl disks, the fastest response to mix and scratch and the lightest disks for the best possible mixing sessions, the T7 offers something for everyone. For those who've learnt their craft on a non-motorised controller and want to upgrade their skills, or for those who've already mixed on vinyl and want a more portable and digital controller, the T7 has DJs and their performances covered. And it's that essence of performance that we really wanted to capture and showcase in our trailer.

Combining Hip Hop and EDM, we showcased how the T7 can easily mix between different genres of music in a visually striking fashion, with characters dancing on the controller’s spinning discs to convey the fun and excitement of vinyl mixing. Both dancers were uniquely animated in a way that reflected the two music genres, with colour palettes and graphic styles also changing to reinforce the shift in style.

Whilst the presentation of music in the trailer switched in both sound and visuals, when it came to showcasing the controller in all its glory we kept a deep red as a solid, unchanging base colour. This allowed the beautifully modelled details of the T7 to shine and take the forefront of the viewers attention. Red is also Hercules’ brand colour, so we ensured that the brand permeated throughout the piece.

We particularly love the use of atmospheric shadows and light reflections as the camera explores the controller, the loose animated style of the Hip Hop text, and of course - the moves on display from our dancers! Hercules wholeheartedly agreed, and were absolutely thrilled with the results of the trailer.

We’d like to say we that we used motion capture from Fluid employees for the dance sequences, but unfortunately our skills with our feet leave much to be desired. However if it’s industry leading CG animation, motion graphics, VFX, video editing and awesome trailers like this one that you’re looking for - we’ve got you covered.

Until next time (end track).
