Square Enix Forspoken
Forspoken launched its bold visuals, fast paced parkour and magical combat early in 2023 - as Square Enix’s newest Action RPG. This modern isekai story sees Frey, a jaded and spiky New York teen get transported to the beautiful yet cruel land of Athia - where she must discover how to wield her newfound abilities in the search for a way home.
Our brief? Create a high-quality, on-brand and interactive influencer kit - which should deliver exciting, premium unboxing experiences: informing and providing talking points about this new IP, building buzz and encouraging social content creation among global recipients.
We developed the kit’s concept around a client-supplied replica Witch cloak and the brand assets - which utilised rich textures and colours to convey the game’s unique dualities of Cruelty/Beauty and Contemporary/Fantasy. The kit exterior evokes mystique; a semi-transparent slipcase referencing the game’s fog and fluted gold foil detail for vibrancy. Removal reveals our hinged lid shoulder box, the base’s dark purple and black fog licked with gold tendrils - framing the lid’s dynamic key art, in opposing gloss and matt finishes.
Within, the themes of duality continue; the gold box shoulder framing the dark content - housed within an embossed bellyband, adorned with antique gold metal brooch, which is used to lift out the content: a gold-edged marketing card and the Witch’s fabric cloak, with leather/metal embellishments. Beneath, a bold mirrored-gold interior houses one last item: a mirrored gold metal card, laser etched with black polymer, providing a client-trackable QR code to access a special online mini-site.
Engaging and exquisite, the 175 final kits were individually numbered for exclusivity, to embody the game’s AAA brand identity, before being shipped out to global client teams and individual recipients - with gold address labels and parcel tape adding final flourishes to these unique and stunning kits. The client expressing “They’re absolutely fantastic. The build quality, the gold, the pin and embossed designs are great. It’s a really beautiful item. They look incredible.
